Try this link. http://www.collegehillshonda.com/ins...an/xmradio.pdf . Here is another link that might help. http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/showt...onsole+removal. Hope the links work, cannot seem to make hyper links work on this message board. So it seems just need to remove the panels, find a good mounting point for the new Sirius components, plug into the back of the radio head unit. And have to tap into a power source. Right now I have a Sirius Plug and Play unit in my Civic, so I already have the antenna cord in the right location.

I've read about the Directed Electronics hon-sc1 product to I/F with the current nav units, but no more official updates in a while regarding the VAIS product that has been rumored to come out for a while. Do I have no choice but to go out and buy the competing product? I don't want to choose too early if the SL2H is going to be out in a month or two.

RedSox, you can adapt the SC-C1 tuner to the OEM XM Honda/Acura roof mount antenna already in place, but because of the proprietary antenna lead and frequency differences between the two services, the antenna adaption is not a simple procedure, and is also costly, BUT it can be done!
however, since VaisTech will not in the fore-seeable future be releasing their interface, all of us here will be left to purchase the Directed Electronics HON-SC1 and SC-C1 tuner/interface combo:

Do you have any further information about how I would accomplish this? I'm pretty competent with wiring and electrical schematics, and would much rather not have to run wires through the weatherstripping, trunk, and interior of the car to get back to the HU. Do you mean expensive to have someone else do it, or expensive in general? p.s. I just bought an 07 Civic Hybrid w/ navi; there are not differences b/w mine and Red_Sox's 08 in terms of the procedures, right? If I remember correctly even the audio systems are identical in those two model years. Last edited by pdogg81; 01-14-2008 at 03:29 PM. Reason: p.s. |

yes, there is no difference between your Hybrid and his 08 as long as your XM system was a factory delivered unit, not a dealer add-on tuner.
the rear of the HeadUnit has nothing to do with the XM antenna lead or XM tuner. the antenna lead is not connected to the rear of the headunit. your OEM XM Tuner is located in the right rear of the car behind the inner wall trunk lining, this is where you will make the oem xm antenna lead connection, and will mount the SC-C1 tuner and HON-SC1 interface once released. the conversion is much simplier if you already have XM within the vehicle because of the existing hardware and wiring harnesses. and the antenna adaption is expensive due to parts costs alone, before you spend 1.5hours to create the assembly.

Thanks for the info. I have the factory installed navigation unit with XM, so hopefully it won't be too bad.

The SLS is supposed to work fine with the SIR-PNR1 tuner (which I have in my old car for Pioneer HU); does anyone know if the HON-SC1 will also work with that old unit? I have an email in to Directed to ask them about this, but I doubt this would work since the Pioneer tuner uses a special data cable.
